Carolyn & Damon - St John the Baptist, Locksheath and Lysses House
Hotel, Fareham
Damon and the boys arrived in good time and I
took the opportunity to get all the shots I needed, and then I checked the rules
with the vicar - who it seems had actually had a wedding photographer stop a
previous service and ask for something to be repeated ! This is something I had
heard of happening - but I still can't believe it !
Well I will admit to being up at 4am listening to
the howling wind and pouring rain and feeling a little more concerned than
normal about todays wedding. Fortunately I went back off to sleep and when I got
up at 7am it was marginally better. With the lights packed in the boot I was
pretty sure that I would be using either the church or the restaurant in the
hotel for groups as per my backup plan ! However, by the time I got to the
church all was well again with a warm and bright overcast day - perfect for
wedding photography.
Damon and the boys
arrived in good time and I took the opportunity to get all the shots I needed,
and then I checked the rules with the vicar - who it seems had actually had a
wedding photographer stop a previous service and ask for something to be
repeated ! This is something I had heard of happening - but I still can't
believe it ! So I was on fairly strict rules and was only able to shoot a small
amount of the ceremony. After the lovely service was over we got a confetti shot
in the church grounds with a background of the lovely church, and then
dispatched Carolyn and Damon to the hotel via a winding drive that allowed them
to pick out most of the confetti !
I
got the car outside the hotel, and then did the family groups in the rear garden
under a threatening sky. Carolyn and Damon had a number of family groups, with
guests from many parts of the country and world and so most of the photography
covered this important gathering - but I did manage to steal them away for some
images on the stairs before finishing just ahead of schedule and handing them
over to the friendly staff for their wedding
breakfast.
Below are some images from
the day...

church during the first hymn just before I had to stop
shooting.

A
half face shot - this doesn't always work - this time I had Carolyn look down at
her flowers and I'm really pleased with this
one.
The
staircase is great - and I chose a different viewpoint framing the happy couple
with the archway
downstairs.
