Someone Elses Wedding Photography on Watchdog

NOT OURS ! I hasten to
reinforce....
One of the local
photographers in the South alerted us that he would be giving some commentary on
a piece on Watchdog last Thursday about a photographer based up in Bolton who
had either completely failed to deliver or has provided very poor quality work.
This is a terrible shame because it has spoilt many happy couples day, and as
you might have suspected this individual has now decided that he no longer
wishes to be a wedding photographer and has run away from the problems he has
caused.
So my plea to couples is this;
when you are searching for a wedding photographer don't just look at the price -
this guy was offering more than he was charging, let alone pay for insurance,
equipment and make a profit. Take a serious look at the work that they produce,
full albums and weddings and make sure you are happy with the quality. Then look
at the person you are hiring, and how they operate - backups, insurance,
testimonials make sure you trust them as an individual with your wedding
photography.
Take it for granted that
whilst we love to have fun at the weddings we shoot at it is backed up with
experience, equipment and insurance.
I
was appalled when I saw the feature - not just for the couples but also because
of what it says about some of the people that work as "wedding photographers"
and how that makes people think.
Kevin
Wilson, who commented on the program, and who is an excellent and reputed
photographer didn't have the time to give any guidance on the programme - I'd
like to think I have echoed his thoughts with my comments
above.
